Ocean Freight: common questions
What is the difference between FCL and LCL?
FCL (Full Container Load) means your cargo has a container to itself. LCL (Less than Container Load) means your cargo shares container space with other shippers and you pay for the volume you use. FCL usually becomes more economical once a shipment fills a large share of a 20′ container.
Can you arrange door-to-door ocean shipments?
Yes. Sea freight can be combined with pickup, export and import customs clearance, and final delivery, coordinated as a single shipment.
Which documents are needed for an ocean shipment?
Typically a commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, plus any certificates the commodity or destination requires (for example a certificate of origin). We confirm the exact set when we quote.
